Dixon unhappy with AGR tactics

Scott Dixon has expressed his disappointment over the tactics used by Andretti Green Racing to help Dario Franchitti's title bid

The 2003 champion moved into the lead in the championship with his victory at Infineon Raceway on Sunday, but he was particularly upset with the way Tony Kanaan held him up earlier in the race.

"Today was very frustrating, especially having to deal with Tony," he said. "He was just obviously slowing down.

"In the middle of the corner he was just crawling, and you can't go anywhere. If that's how it's going to go, it's just a bit sad really."

Dixon claimed that Kanaan slowed by around two seconds per lap when he was following the Brazilian, who admitted that he decided against trying to pass Franchitti's ailing car in the closing laps.

"There were definitely two sections of the lap that he was making it very slow and very pronounced that he was trying to give Dario a gap," Dixon added.

"Of course, it's frustrating. But that's why they have four cars. That's the advantage they have."

Dixon also said that he was hoping that Andretti Green would be feeling the pressure now that Franchitti has lost the championship lead.

"I think it's six races in a row we've earned more points than them," he added. "That is obviously going to cause a bit of questioning within the team and obviously a lot of stress. We've just got to play on that."

Kanaan added that he did not feel that he had done anything wrong, and despite still being mathematically in contention for the title, he does not feel that he has a chance to add to his 2004 crown this year.

"I get paid to drive for Michael Andretti and AGR and I did what I felt I had to do," he said. "If anybody has a problem, they can come talk to me."

Dixon, who was 65 points adrift in the standings earlier in the season, now leads Franchitti by four points with two races to go.
