Dixon quickest in second session
Scott Dixon topped the final free practice session before qualifying for the IRL IndyCar Series opener at Homestead
The Ganassi driver was quickest amongst the first group of cars to take to the track in the split session, although his 25.2072-second lap was 0.2 seconds adrift of teammate Dan Wheldon's morning best.
Tony Kanaan (Andretti-Green) was fastest in group two, and second overall, ahead of Penske's Ryan Briscoe and Helio Castroneves. Wheldon focused on longer runs and ended up eighth, behind the two Vision Racing cars and highly impressive rookie Jay Howard (Roth Racing).
AGR's Danica Patrick and Panther driver Vitor Meira completed the top ten.
The ex-Champ Car teams edged slightly closer to the pace, with Will Power (KV Racing) 0.4 seconds behind Dixon in 15th place.
Power was just ahead of Enrique Bernoldi, who took a big step forward from first practice in the Conquest car. Dale Coyne's rookie Mario Moraes also gained speed, improving on his morning time by 0.6 seconds and jumping to 19th.
