Andretti eyes revival from Indy
Marco Andretti is hoping that he can use the Indianapolis 500 to turn his season around after a difficult start to the year
The 20-year-old's only top 10 finish in the first four races of the season came on the street course at St. Petersburg, and he is currently 14th in the IndyCar Series standings.
"It's been an absolutely miserable year so far from what I had hoped," said Andretti. "I was hoping to be right up there in the championship hunt going into Indy.
"The positive thing is that we have a full month. That's what allowed me to turn my season around last year. Now I can just think about winning the Indy 500."
Andretti still believes that he is capable of running at the front, and he feels that the performance of his Andretti Green teammates shows what the team are capable of.
"I did come into this season with very high confidence, which I'm not sure I've lost," he said. "I still have confidence in myself and the team.
"Now I have a month to get my act back together and hopefully compete for the win."
Andretti also admitted that his narrow defeat in last year's Indy 500 still haunts him.
"It's going to bother me till the end of my career, even if I win that thing four times" he said. "It just slipped away, but I don't think I'm owed anything. I nearly won the thing at my first go."
Practice for the Indianapolis 500 begins on May 8.
