Wilson crashes on Indy debut
Justin Wilson has crashed out of his first Indianapolis 500
The Briton spun into the inside barrier at Turn 2 on lap 133, ripping the rear wing from his Newman/Haas/Lanigan Dallara-Honda.
He had been running 16th at the time, but was still on the lead lap.
"I just lost the rear coming out of Turn 1," Wilson explained. "I was trying to experiment a little bit, understand how to get a run on people, and was playing with my lines through Turn 2.
"It's a disappointing end. I thought the car was pretty strong."
Wilson's accident means that both N/H/L cars have now crashed out of the team's first Indy 500 since 2005, with Wilson's teammate Graham Rahal having become the race's first retirement when he hit the wall 95 laps earlier.
The duo were expected to be among the best of the former Champ Car drivers at Indy, but that honour is currently held by KV's Oriol Servia, who is running 10th.
