Andretti open to working with Busch again after Indy 500 success

Michael Andretti says that he is open to working with Kurt Busch again in the future following the NASCAR star's outstanding performance in the Indianapolis 500

Busch drove his Andretti Autosport to sixth on his IndyCar debut, although his hopes of completing all 1100 miles of the Indy/Charlotte double were derailed when his Stewart-Haas car suffered an engine failure just over 400 miles into the NASCAR event.

Despite his good result in Indianapolis, Busch said that he felt he had failed use all of his car's potential, but Andretti claims that he could not be more pleased with how the 2004 Sprint Cup star had performed.

"Hats off to him, he did a really good job," Andretti said. "He came in here with the right mindset.

"He came in with a lot of experience, but still coming in with the mindset of a rookie. He went to school and was a great student.

"You could tell the way he ran the first part of the race ... he fell back, but you could tell he was learning. When he started feeling confident, he started picking them off.

"He told me in the end he thought he had a car capable of doing better, but he's a rookie driver. I said, 'you have nothing to be ashamed of. You did a great month the whole month'.

"It was a pleasure having him on our team. I think everybody on the team really liked having him on [board]. Maybe we'll do it again sometime."
