Susie Wolff keen to add GT campaign to Williams Formula 1 duties

Susie Wolff is hoping to race in sportscars this year alongside her role as a Williams Formula 1 development driver

The 30-year-old raced in the DTM from 2006-12 and is set to explore opportunities in GT racing for this season.

Wolff decided to walk away from the DTM prior to her Williams development driver role being expanded, but she is keen to race competitively this year.

"My new year's resolution was to stand on a podium again, so I'm not done with racing yet," said Wolff.

"I think I'll look to do some GT races just because I enjoy racing so much.

"Obviously, February is when most of my work is being done [with Williams] so I'm not looking at anything just now because this is my main priority.

"Once February is over and the tests are done I can start looking to see what is possible and what is available out there in terms of GT."

Wolff has ruled out racing at Le Mans but is keen to compete in other marquee events such as the Spa 24 Hours.

"Unfortunately, my husband [Mercedes motorsport boss and Williams shareholder Toto Wolff] has forbidden me from ever doing Le Mans, so that is off the programme," she said when asked by AUTOSPORT whether the race appealed to her.

"Something like the Spa 24 Hours or some of the big highlight races would be good and challenging to do."

Although Wolff spent her racing career in single-seaters in Formula Renault 2000 and Formula 3 prior to switching to the DTM, she has had a brief taste of sportscar racing.

In 2005, she raced the AUTOSPORT-backed guest car in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Brands Hatch as a result of making the final for the McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award a year earlier.
