Monza qual 2: Herbert's pole

Johnny Herbert restored Audi's pride at Monza by snatching pole position away from the rapid Zytek prototype in the second qualifying session for the inaugural Le Mans Endurance Series race tomorrow (Sunday)

The British ex-F1 star took over qualifying duties from Team Veloqx partner Jamie Davies and moved ahead of the factory Zytek, which has proved particularly adept at negotiating Monza's chicanes. David Brabham could not improve Stefan Johannson's time from the first session and will start from second on the grid.

Sebring 12 Hours winner Allan McNish moved the second Veloqx entry up to third on the grid ahead of the Creation Zytek driven by Nicolas Minassian. The Frenchman also failed to improve on his time in the British-built chassis.

Rinaldo Cappelo's Team Goh Audi and Hiroki Katoh's Dome-Mugen will start fifth and sixth by virtue of their first session times.

Belmondo Racing's Courage remains on pole in the LMP2 division as does the Vitaphone Saleen in the LMS class. Stephane Ortelli's Freisinger Porsche will start from LMGT pole.
