DAMS seals Lambo line-up
Andrea Piccini and former grand prix racer Jean Denis Deletraz have been officially confirmed as the drivers for the DAMS-run Lamborghini Murcielago in the FIA GT Championship, starting with round six of the series at Donington Park next month
The Murcielago is scheduled to be delivered to the French team by Reiter Engineering in the first week of June. On the Lamborghini's FIA GT debut at Valencia recently, in the hands of Oliver Gavin and Peter Kox, it led the race until a late pitstop mistake dropped it to third.
Piccini and Deletraz competed together in 2002 in a Ferrari 550 Maranello and were also partners in a Lister Storm last year.
"I'm very enthusiastic about this deal," said Piccini. "This will be an introductory season for us: we will have to break the car in and we will have to resolve all of the inevitable problems that will come up with such a young car. It will be hard work but exciting. I can't wait to get on track in Donington and to make our debut with the Lamborghini Murcielago."
