Eight winners of Macau races on FIA GT World Cup entry list

A total of eight winners of keynote races at Macau are on the entry for next month's FIA GT World Cup on the Chinese street circuit

Past winners of the World Cup (formerly the Macau GT Cup), the Formula 3 Grand Prix and the Guia touring car race are all represented on a 20-car entry split between seven manufacturers.

The driver line-up for the blue-riband GT3 event on the Macau F3 GP undercard on November 18/19 has a combined total of 15 victories in the big races held on the 3.8-mile Guia circuit since 2005.

Laurens Vanthoor and Darryl O'Young, winners of the GT Cup in 2016 and 2008 respectively, are the last of the former Macau victors to be confirmed with the publication of the official entry list.

Belgian Vanthoor, who switched to Porsche from Audi for this year, and inaugural Macau GT Cup winner O'Young will race Porsche 911 GT3-Rs for the factory-assisted Craft Bamboo Racing team.

They join former Macau champions Edoardo Mortara, who has a total of five big wins across the F3 GP and the GT Cup, Lucas di Grassi, Felix Rosenqivst, Daniel Juncadella, Augusto Farfus and Maro Engel on the entry for the third running of the event since it gained FIA world status in 2015.

Mortara, Juncadella and Engel are part of a four-car Mercedes line-up, which has been expanded to include a pair of factory AMG GT3s run by Chinese entrant GruppeM Racing.

Di Grassi is returning to Macau with an Audi R8 LMS run by HCB-Rutronik Racing after a five-year absence, joining WRT drivers Robin Frijns and Nico Muller in the German manufacturer's factory line-up.

Rosenqvist will compete at Macau in a GT car for the first time with a Ferrari 488 GT3 run by Scuderia Corsa.

Farfus will race a solo BMW M6 GT3 for the German Schnitzer team, which is returning to Chinese street circuit for the first time in eight years trying to add to its record tally of Macau wins notched up in the Guia race.

A fourth BMW on the entry list will be driven by Australia Supercars frontrunner and former Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert.

Mostert, who raced an M6 in the Bathurst 12 Hours at the start of this year, has joined BMW factory driver Marco Wittmann at the Taiwanese AAI team.

Two-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner Romain Dumas will race a Porsche for the HubAuto Racing squad.

Lamborghini is returning to the event with the FFF Racing team. Factory driver Mirko Bortolotti will race a solo Huracan GT3.

Honda is the final manufacturer on the entry, with Renger van der Zande racing a JAS-run NSX GT3.

The Macau organising committee had announced that the event would be reserved for platinum and gold-rated drivers, but two silvers have been allowed to take part.

ADAC GT Masters regular Markus Pommer will race an Audi for Aust Motorsport, while Fabian Plentz returns to Macau in a second HCB-Rutronik R8.
