Weber urges Germany to improve
Team Germany seat holder Willi Weber has called for his team and driver to up their game after a slow start to their A1GP title defence
The reigning champions are only ninth in the standings after the first two weekends of the season, and they are already 23 points adrift of championship leaders New Zealand.
Christian Vietoris struggled with the handling of his car last weekend at Brno, and the team lost several positions with a slow pit stop in the feature race on Sunday.
"Unfortunately both the team and driver haven't reached top form yet," said Weber. "The team needs to sort out all the unanswered technical details, so that the set-up of the car is better, while pit stops are all about practice and a small portion of luck.
"At the same time, Christian must try to find his feet in the series and win more respect on the circuit. It's important that he stamps his authority during the wheel-to-wheel duels."
But while Weber was critical of Vietoris and the team, he added that it was only because he knows they are capable of achieving more.
"Unfortunately we have lost a little ground to the leaders in the table, but Christian has already shown that he possesses the raw speed by setting fastest times in testing and practice sessions," he said.
"Team and driver are better than the results show, I know this. We aim to change this situation as soon as possible."
