Surtees impressed with Jarvis debut

John Surtees believes Oliver Jarvis put in a mature performance during his first weekend as an A1GP race driver in China

Despite a very disruptive weekend due to problems with the track, Jarvis put in a solid performance, and he kept out of trouble during the feature race to score a second place finish.

The result moves Team Great Britain into third in the standings, just four points adrift of leaders Mexico.

"Oliver drove a very sensible race in the feature and justified the confidence we had in running him," said Surtees.

"He had extremely limited running due to the problems with the track, but he put in an extremely mature performance."

Jarvis had said prior to the event that he was hoping to score a podium finish, and his second place is the best finish Great Britain has had so far this season.

"I'm really happy, more for the team than myself," said Jarvis. "I always have high expectations, but there was no pressure from the team other than to do my best."

All three of Great Britain's drivers have now raced this season, but no announcement has been made on who will compete in Malaysia in two weeks time.
