Rice to start season for Team USA

Buddy Rice has been confirmed as Team USA's lead driver for the season-opening race at Zandvoort this weekend

The IndyCar Series driver tested with the team recently at Silverstone, and he will make his race debut in A1GP at the Dutch circuit.

"I'm very excited to have this opportunity to drive for A1 TEAM USA and represent my country in the World Cup of Motorsport," Rice said.

"It is an honour and carries a new type of responsibility. You always want to do well for your team and yourself and, now in A1GP, for my country."

Rice, a former Indianapolis 500 winner, has never raced at Zandvoort before, but he is confident that the team will make a good start to the third season of A1GP.

"We've developed some good, reliable information on what the car likes in our tests and the challenge we face at Zandvoort is finding the optimum performance during a race weekend," he added.

"I haven't raced there before, but we have a strong engineering staff with experience in A1GP and at Zandvoort and that will be a short cut to my learning curve."
