Reid learning from Brno
Jonny Reid says that he has learned a lesson from his last A1GP outing as he prepares to take over from Matt Halliday for New Zealand this weekend
Reid qualified on pole for the sprint race at Brno last month, but collided with Nico Hulkenberg at the start and lost any chance of a strong result.
"It was a valuable lesson," said Reid. "It was my first race with Nico and I didn't appreciate how he drove."
The pair caught up with each other after the race in the Czech Republic and vowed to give each other more space in the future, but Reid has had an agonising wait of more than six weeks to get back behind the wheel of the black car.
A change to the rules since his last outing means Reid is now eligible to take part in the rookie sessions on Friday, which will be useful prior to his first race at Sepang.
"I'm glad the rules have changed and I can take part in the rookie sessions too," he said. "I'm keen to make the most of every practice minute to be well prepared for the races."
Despite showing promise this season, New Zealand are down in 14th in the standings, and after his Brno weekend Reid is aware of the importance of getting solid results.
"My sole focus is getting points on the board," he said. "We're not happy with our position and we want to score some good results and get back among the front-runners."
