Germany tops practice 1 at Sepang
Young German driver Nico Hulkenberg topped opening practice for the A1GP event at Sepang in Malaysia
Teenager Hulkenberg set a time of 1:51.789, over a second faster than any of his rivals could manage in changing weather during the one-hour practice session. A dry start and end to the session was interrupted by some mid-session rain.
Hulkenberg also topped both rookie sessions earlier in the day.
The biggest surprise was that China was second fastest, Congfu Cheng just edging out New Zealand's Jonny Reid on the timesheets.
All three set their fastest times in the opening minutes of the session.
Behind the leading trio came Switzerland's Neel Jani, followed by a group of seven drivers covered by less than three-quarters of a second, headed by USA's Philip Giebler who was just under two seconds off Team Germany's pace.
Series leader Mexico had a disappointing session, Salvador Duran just over three seconds off the pace in twelfth position.
