Perera leads Superleague practice

AS Roma driver Franck Perera topped the times in the final free practice session for the Superleague Formula title-decider at Jerez

The Frenchman lapped the former Grand Prix venue in 1:28.032 to end the session over 0.2 seconds clear of his nearest rival. That was champion-in-waiting Davide Rigon in the Beijing Guoan car. The Italian needs only a top-three finish this weekend to wrap up the inaugural title and seems to have the pace in hand to achieve his goal.

Andy Soucek was the top Spaniard in third in the Atletico Madrid car, ahead of title outsider Adrian Valles in the Liverpool machine.

PSV Eindhoven's Yelmer Buurman, who also has a mathematical shot at the crown, was back in 15th, three seconds off the pace.

There are a couple of driver changes this weekend. Frenchman Bertrand Baguette has taken over the Al-Ain car, and was an impressive fifth fastest, while Briton James Walker has replaced Enrico Toccacelo in the Dortmund entry. Technical problems have prevented him from running so far.
