New Hampshire eyes IndyCars
The founder and CEO of the New Hampshire International Speedway one-mile oval racetrack, Bob Bahre, is considering hosting an IndyCar event again. NHIS first hosted the CART series in 1992, and ran IRL races from 1996 before dropping IndyCars in 1999 due to poor attendances. "When we had CART here we did very well," Bahre told The Union Leader. "[A return] could happen someday because now you could make some money with it since they got straightened out."
Bahre said: "I see [Indianapolis boss] Tony George once in a great while, but we never talked about it. We talk about everything else. I like Tony and I know him well. We were the first track to go with him. I'm quite sure he'd give us a date.
"Right now, in my opinion, Indy car racing is not back yet where it was, but it'll get there because CART is practically out of business. They aren't completely. To be honest with you, I kind of wish they'd never split up anyway."
