Netherlands on pole at Zandvoort

Jeroen Bleekemolen earned Team Netherlands pole position for the A1GP season four opener at their home track, Zandvoort

Bleekemolen fought hard with Team Ireland's Adam Carroll for the coveted first 'Powered by Ferrari' era pole, and a great effort of 1:24.213 with about ten minutes of the one-hour session to go, settled the matter in the orange car's favour.

That time is over four seconds faster than the best lap recorded at Zandvoort in the old Lola-Zytek.

Carroll was bumped from the front row in the dying minutes by a great effort from Team New Zealand's new driver Earl Bamber. Fairuz Fauzy set the first flying lap for Team Malaysia and eventually wound up fourth, while Team Monaco had an impressive debut with Clivio Piccione fifth.

France and Portugal finally hit the track, but struggled as expected. Loic Duval went off the road on his way to 11th, while Filipe Albuquerque managed just five laps and will start 13th.

There was no sign of Ho-Pin Tung and Team China, which has to put their participation in tomorrow's races in doubt. The other newcomers, Team Korea, struggled to the 15th and slowest time, with Jin Woo Hwang almost nine seconds off the pace.
