Kerr to race for GBR at Brands

Robbie Kerr will race for Team Great Britain in their home race at Brands Hatch next weekend

The team had to make the choice between Kerr and Oliver Jarvis, after both drivers took a victory in the previous two rounds of the series.

Team boss John Surtees said: "Robbie and Oliver have driven exceptionally well over the course of the present season.

"Robbie ran well at Brands Hatch last season and I see no reason why that should be any different this year if the reliability is there."

Kerr retired from the lead at the inaugural A1GP race at Brands Hatch in 2005, and he believes that he can put that right after he took his first win in the series last time out.

"It's a fantastic boost to go to Brands off the back of a great weekend in China, scoring my first win and being competitive throughout the event," said Kerr.

"We came close to winning at Brands last season and I'm confident we've got the set-up to do it this year and become the first nation in A1GP to win their home race."

Jarvis has been confirmed with the team alongside Kerr for the next season of A1GP, but the 23-year-old is disappointed to miss out on racing at home after he took the team's maiden victory in Mexico.

"I'm obviously disappointed not to be racing at Brands," said Jarvis. "I would have loved the chance to compete in another A1GP event but especially my home race and the last race of the season.

"I understand the decision made by the team, Robbie was effectively assured of the drive before Mexico but after that things were maybe a little in doubt.

"I'll be at Brands to support the team and I obviously still have a job to do. I'm a team player and I'll be doing everything I can to give Robbie a good car following the rookie session."

The F3 racer admitted that he was pleased to be involved with the team next season.

"The team has informed me that I'll have a much larger role to play next year which is nice to hear," he said.
