Jones happy with Australia progress

The 1980 Formula One world champion believes that bad luck has played its part in the team being unable to consistently run at the front, but he is expecting the results to improve in the second half of the season.

"Our car is running very well and our drivers are very comfortable behind the wheel," he said. "We are very happy with our preparations and we are now focused on the race ahead."

The team bounced back from a disastrous weekend in Malaysia to score points at the last round in Indonesia, and driver Ryan Briscoe said that he felt the team were making big gains with every race.

Jones added: "A combination of a little bad luck and some dire weather has hampered the team's fantastic efforts, and it did take away some of the momentum we had worked hard to build.

"But we have a renewed determination now, especially with the Australian race on February 4 in our sights."

The second A1GP season gets back underway with a new event in New Zealand on January 21.
