Germany set the pace on day two

Reigning A1GP champions Team Germany proved that they have lost none of their speed as Christian Vietoris topped the second day of testing at Silverstone on Wednesday

The 18-year-old is likely to assume the role of lead driver for the team this season, after he spent most of last season as the team's rookie driver while Nico Hulkenberg dominated the series.

Vietoris was not among the pace setters on the first day of testing, but the German team found their feet on day two, just as they had done at the same test one year ago with Hulkenberg.

The fastest times of the day were all set in the morning, where Vietoris was more than two tenths of a second faster than Robbie Kerr for Team Great Britain.

Sebastien Buemi continued where Neel Jani left off with a solid lap for Switzerland, while Jonny Reid was fourth fastest for Team New Zealand.

The relatively inexperienced duo of Joao Urbano and Sergio Jiminez shone for Portugal and Brazil respectively, while Pakistan returnee Adam Khan was seventh fastest in the morning session.

Great Britain set the pace in the afternoon session, while day one pace setters South Africa were back towards the front with the second fastest time, just ahead of New Zealand and France.
