Gaunt joins New Zealand for China
Daniel Gaunt will become the third driver to perform rookie duties for Team New Zealand at the next A1GP round in China
The 23-year-old has been racing in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand, and he has been offered the drive as a reward for winning that championship.
"It's a great opportunity, and one I've been working for all season," said Gaunt, who joins Wade Cunningham and Chris van der Drift as drivers that have performed rookie duties for the team.
Gaunt added that he understands the job he has to do for the team, as he will help prepare the car for Jonny Reid to take over for the rest of the weekend.
Team New Zealand spokesman Bob McMurrary said that the team are hoping to help develop the talent of young drivers from the country.
"Team Owner Colin Giltrap has given him the opportunity to drive as part of a desire to promote young New Zealand drivers," he said.
"We're pleased to be giving emerging talent some experience in a more powerful car on a global stage.
"Daniel has a very specific, technical job to do for the team and I'm sure he'll acquit himself extremely well."
