Bourdais not getting carried away

Sebastien Bourdais believes it is too early to start talking about winning his third successive Champ Car title, despite taking his second win in two races last weekend

Bourdais won last weekend's race in Houston to take his fifth victory in succession on tracks making their Champ Car debut, dating back to Brands Hatch in 2003.

The last person to achieve the feat of winning the opening two races of the season, Paul Tracy in 2003, also went on to take the title.

However, the Frenchman has warned his team about getting too carried away as a result of the early season success.

"At the end of the day when races go your way, they go your way," Bourdais said. "Now it's second win out of two races. It's great. In the meantime, we know it's going to be a long season.

"We need to shy away from getting too excited because the wheel can turn around very quickly. Let's make sure we don't get too crazy about that. It's a long way to go.

"I really quite honestly never would have believed we could have won that race at the start. It's just one of these situations where basically you start and you feel really, really strong. I just pushed really hard while I was 100 per cent fresh. I knew at the end of the race I was going to be a little bit more difficult.

"Everybody was going to be a little bit more on its toes. I really felt like I had the edge on the pack when the green flag was waved at the beginning."
