Top 50 Drivers of 2025
Autosport's team of expert journalists got together to try to assess who were the top 50 drivers of 2025. Here are the results.
Back for a second crack at Super Formula, Red Bull Formula 1 reserve Ayumu Iwasa was the strongest all-rounder across the year and, without car failures at Autopolis and Motegi, it’s probable that the Team Mugen driver would have romped to the crown.
As it was, the title race went right down to the wire at Suzuka, and a second win of the season propelled Iwasa ahead of Sho Tsuboi, Kakunoshin Ohta and Kakunoshin Ohta. In normal circumstances you might think that enough to warrant a promotion to F1 but, given F2 race winner Arvid Lindblad’s status at Red Bull, such a prospect seems remote.
