Audi take one-two at Road America

Audi took their second consecutive one-two finish as the pole-sitting car of Marco Werner and Lucas Luhr took victory in the Generac 500 presented by Time Warner Cable at Road America

The winning Audi, which led two-thirds of the race, was followed home two seconds later by teammates Marcel Fassler and Emanuele Pirro in the second Audi R10 TDI.

But despite taking their second one-two finish in a row, the Audis didn't have it all their own way, with the Acura of David Brabham and Scott Sharp leading the way with twenty minutes remaining before being passed by Werner and then Fassler.

With less yellows near the finish, they might have even held on to score the win, but their third place finish saw them take the LMP2 class win ahead of the Porsche RS Spyder of Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard in fourth place.

It may have been different for Brabham and Sharp, and the Audis as well, had Franck Montagny not crashed out of the lead in his Acura while lapping a GT2 car in the closing minutes of the race, ending the race six laps down in eleventh place.

In GT1, the Johnny O'Connell and Jan Magnussen Corvette C6.R took their sixth class win in the last seven races, and tenth overall after the sister car of Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta crashed near the kink while leading the class with just under an hour remaining, having led since the start.

The GT2 class saw the first victory for Farnbacher Loles Racing as Dirk Werner, Richard Westbrook and Bryce Miller took a last-gasp win in their Porsche 911 GT3 RSR after Werner passed Mika Salo's Ferrari F430 GT at the start of the last lap, Salo spinning as he tried to retake the position at turn five.

That spin was enough to drop Salo and Jaime Melo to fifth in class, behind Jorg Bergmeister and Wolf Henzler's Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, Dominik Farnbacher and Dirk Muller's Ferrari F430 GT and Johannes van Overbeek and Patrick Pilet's Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.
