IndyCar - Toronto: Actually, in a new rule made public about 30s ago, it is actually mandatory for each driver to make at least one practice start this morning. So there you go.
IndyCar - Toronto: One feature of this morning's session that is something of a novelty in these parts: a set of staging lights at the end of pitlane so that drivers can practice standing starts ahead of tomorrow's race. We're only a couple of minutes in, and quite a few drivers have already tried it out.
Auto GP - Mugello: The second test was briefly interrupted to recover Meindert van Buuren's Manor MP car.
The car was returned to the pits on the back of a truck, looking dusty but not seriously damaged.
Van Buuren ended the test 11th fastest, one place behind Auto GP debutant Christian Klien (pictured).

Auto GP - Mugello: Vittorio Ghirelli was again fastest in Mugello's second Auto GP test. The Italian was the only driver to post a lap in the 1m34s, recording a time of 1m34.676s.
Super Nova team-mate Narain Karthikeyan led much of the test, but had to settle for repeating his opening test position of second. Karthikeyan's time of 1m35.023s was eclipsed by Ghirelli with five minutes remaining.

DTM - Norisring: Mercedes has pushed the boat out on cool machinery this weekend. Here's a couple of awesome-looking 190 Evos from 20 years ago.
The Silver 1993 car is an ex-Ellen Lohr special while the other - from a year earlier - is formerly of 'Mr DTM' Bernd Schneider.

Auto GP - Mugello: Auto GP debutant Christian Klien was reportedly happy with his acclimatisation to the championship in the first test.
The Austrian finished 11th fastest, but has already found close to a one second improvement in the second test and is currently fourth fastest.

European F3 - Norisring: This is the livery being run by series newcomer Nick Cassidy at EuroInternational this weekend. Not too difficult to work out that the base colour is suspiciously similar to the Red Bull blue on team-mate Tom Blomqvist's car.
Despite a second car being registered for points at the start of the year by the team, Cassidy competes as a guest entrant and is not able to score points for himself.
Auto GP - Mugello: In the interval between this afternoon's Auto GP test sessions, Super Nova International boss David Sears has briefly reminisced about his first visit to Mugello in 1984, when he shared a Jaguar XJS with Enzo Calderari in the European Touring Car Championship.
Sears's Super Nova cars finished first and second in Friday's opening test, in the hands of Vittorio Ghirelli and Narain Karthikeyan.

Auto GP - Mugello: Friday's second Auto GP test is underway. There's no sign yet of a repeat of yesterday's thunderstorms, athough rain has been forecast for this afternoon.

European F3 - Norisring: Session finishes, and it's Kvyat from Tincknell, Marciello, Blomqvist, Muller, King, Sims, Lynn, Rosenqvist and Serralles.
European F3 - Norisring: 2nd free practice nearing it's end. Auer was first to beat FP1 fastest, then Marciello went quicker still. Closing stages and it's a Carlin 1-2, with Kvyat leading Tincknell.

MotoGP - Sachsenring: Chequered flag flies, and we'll see the last few laps of Friday's running. Pedrosa upping his pace, but top spot looks to be Bradl's.
Euro F3 - Norisring: Marciello - fastest so far in FP2 - has a major lockup at Turn 1. Only quick thinking from Sims prevents a collision - the Brit stays wide and slows right down to give Marciello space.
MotoGP - Sachsenring: Marc Marquez meanwhile goes too deep into Turn 1 and has to run through the gravel. Bailed out quite early, allowing him to minimise the error.

MotoGP - Sachsenring: Hayden loses it now, at Turn 3. The American, currently without a deal for 2014, is OK.
MotoGP - Sachsenring: Three minutes to run. It's been quiet at the front - Bradl still leads from Marquez, Lorenzo, Pedrosa and Rossi - with all the drama happening in the medical centre at present.
MotoGP - Sachsenring: Good news for Crutchlow is that his team is reporting grazes and burns but nothing more severe. Lorenzo meanwhile has reportedly had an X-Ray in the medical centre.
Auto GP - Mugello: Italian Formula 3 champion Riccardo Agostini is absent from the Manor MP Motorsport camp this weekend.
Team manager Sander Dorsman could not confirm if the Italian will make a return to the Dutch outfit. The team has slimmed down to two cars for van Buuren and GP2 racer Daniel de Jong in Mugello.

Auto GP - Mugello: At the conclusion of the first of two, one hour, Auto GP tests at Mugello on Friday, Super Nova International's drivers have set the pace.
Vittorio Ghirelli enjoyed a 0.634s advantage over team-mate Narain Karthikeyan, thanks to a lap of 1m35.301s.
Sergio Campana took third spot, ahead of Meindert van Buuren.

MotoGP - Sachsenring: Bradl takes over from Lorenzo at the top, setting a 1m22.183s - little more than one tenth down on Lorenzo's morning best.

MotoGP - Sachsenring: Another biggie at Turn 11. This time its Cal Crutchlow who loses his Tech 3 Yamaha, hitting a bump just as he enters the downhill apex. Nasty crash, but he looks to be OK.
