Viso wins processional race

Ernesto Viso claimed his second GP2 win of the season in a processional sprint race in Barcelona

What little action there was took place at the start. Viso made the most of his inherited pole to lead into the first corner, where he stayed to the end.

Xandi Negrao stalled on the front row of the grid, allowing teammate Nelson Piquet Junior to lead into second.

Viso initially stretched his lead by a tenth or two per lap, but in the closing stages, Piquet started to reel him in. At the flag, the gap was 0.7 seoconds, the closest it was all race.

Alex Premat made a fantastic start to take third, and he followed closely behind Piquet but was never close enough to pass.

The same applied to Lewis Hamilton, who took fourth, and Tristan Gommendy, who completed a great day for iSport in fifth.

After an excellent getaway, Giorgio Pantano held sixth for FMS. He was pressed all the way by DAMS's Ferdinando Monfardini, and the pressure eventually told and Pantano ran wide at the final corner and conceded the place.

The result means Piquet holds on to the title lead by two points, while Premat's strong weekend has moved him into championship contention.
