Valsecchi tops testing at Jerez
Italian Davide Valsecchi set the pace on the opening day of GP2 testing at the Jerez circuit in Spain on Tuesday
Valsecchi, driving for Scuderia Coloni team, posted a best time of 1:26.408 in the morning session to finish fastest overall.
The Italian was over nearly three tenths of a second quicker than Spaniard Roldan Rogriguez, who joined the Racing Engineering team for the test.
F3 Euro Series champion Jules Bianchi was an impressive third quickest on his GP2 debut, the Frenchman also topping the times in the afternoon session with the ART team.
Bianchi was one of ten newcomers in today's test.
The morning session was red-flagged briefly when Max Chilton went off at last corner and broke his front wing early in the day.
The after session was also interrupted, first when Rodolfo Gonzales spun his Arden car at the chicane, and later when Edoardo Piscopo crashed his Trident machine on the final corner.
The Jerez test continues for two more days.
