Nelson Piquet Jr. finished on top of the timesheets on the first day of GP2 testing at the Paul Ricard circuit ahead of the media and sponsor launch of the series on Wednesday (April 6)

All of the teams have signed their drivers for the season except for Super Nova, who ran three drivers, with Giorgio Pantano in one car and Bruce Jouanny and Hayanari Shimoda sharing the other.

BCN Competition's Hiroki Yoshimoto was suffering from a high fever, and was unable to test. The test continues tomorrow (April 5).
