Dudot Joins GP2 after Renault Exit
Just weeks after he announced his retirement and left the Renault Formula One team, Bernard Dudot has changed his mind and decided to join the new GP2 series as their Head of Engineering
The Frenchman's new role will see him oversee all technical decisions for the category and work alongside GP2 technical director Didier Perrin.
"I am very happy to become an official part of the GP2 series," said Dudot. "This is a fantastic project in which I have been taking a keen interest from the outside. Even though I retired from the Renault F1 Team on April 1st, when the GP2 series approached me for this position I could only say 'yes.'
"For the last six months, as well as working at the Renault F1 Team, I was also overlooking the GP2 series project for Renault, so I already feel well at home in the GP2 family. I am confident that the GP2 series will become the natural stepping stone to F1."
GP2 series organiser Bruno Michel added: "Seeing Bernard Dudot join the GP2 series is great news, and I'm very happy that we managed to convince him to come out of his brief retirement to join us.
"He brings with him experience and knowledge of the very highest levels of international motorsport and will further add to the credibility of the GP2 series. We're delighted to have him on board, and I am sure that, together with Didier, they will make a fine technical team."
