Hamilton shines in GP2 debut
Lewis Hamilton showed he will be a force to be reckoned with in next year's GP2 series by topping the timesheets in both of his maiden test sessions in the series
The newly crowned F3 Euroseries champion was fastest for the championship-winning ART team twice at the Jerez test sessions, in a field that featured several seasoned runners.
Hamilton, who yesterday revealed to autosport.com that he is likely to race for the team next season, completed 51 laps at the Spanish track in his first taste of GP2 machinery, and edged out previous race-winner Nelson Piquet Jr by two tenths for the fastest time of the day.
Nicolas Lapierre, fresh from his double A1 Grand Prix win in Australia last weekend, was third fastest for Arden International and Clivio Piccione was fourth for iSport.
The sessions were the last of a two-day test for the series for November. The series will test again at the Paul Ricard circuit at the start of December.
