Hamilton delighted with pole
Lewis Hamilton was delighted to score his first pole position - not least because it ended his run of third place starts
Hamilton snatched pole late on in the 30-minute session, but before that he was lying third!
"I thought there's no way I'm starting P3 again," he said. "It was a fantastic lap and the team have given me a great car. To have this result after the wins in Nurburgring is amazing. But there's a long race ahead and there's a long run down into the first corner. Getting a good start is going to be vital for tomorrow's race."
Hamilton's two points for pole have taken him into the championship lead, but the man he disposed, Nelson Piquet Junior, lines up second and is predicting an epic fight.
"Like Lewis said, the start is going to be key and whoever leads into the first corner is going to determine the other's pace. But I don't think either one of us will do anything stupid and I think that this is a battle that's going to run for the whole season."
