Di Grassi drops cautious approach

Lucas di Grassi has said that he has dropped his cautious approach as the GP2 title battle reaches its climax

The Brazilian had said earlier in the season that he was prepared to take a measured approach to each weekend, in the hope that consistency would make him a title contender.

He has kept the pressure on Timo Glock throughout the season, although the German driver has blamed bad luck for some of his poor results.

Di Grassi is just two points behind Glock heading into the season finale at Valencia on September 29/30, and he has said that he now has to attack if he wants to win the title.

"We go to the last race and you cannot do mistakes, but you have to be at the limit all the time," said di Grassi.

"The last couple of races I was attacking a lot and since Turkey, when I was two points behind Timo, the aim was to push as much as I could."

While Glock has often said that his bad luck has kept the title battle close this season, di Grassi believes that the pair have both had their share of problems.

The Brazilian lost a lot of points due to a mechanical failure during Monza's feature race, but we was able to close the gap again last weekend at Spa, where Glock failed to get off the line during the first race, and then missed the second race after a collision on the warm-up lap.

"Timo is an excellent driver, he has been one of the fastest guys for the whole championship and it's great to be fighting with him," said di Grassi.

"We were both unlucky in some races and we will go to the last event with equal chances of winning the title. I think it will be a good fight."
