Buemi laments wet practice session

Sebastien Buemi believes that the weather conditions on Friday at the Nurburgring were the main reason that he had a difficult weekend

The Swiss driver was standing in for the injured Michael Ammermuller for the second time this season, although he was unable to repeat his points-scoring performance last weekend.

"It did not work out at the Nurburgring," Buemi said. "I drove in the wet (in practice) but it was dry in qualifying."

The F3 Euro Series frontrunner added that he struggled to adapt to the medium compound Bridgestone tyre, which was harder than the compound that was used at Monaco.

"In Monaco we had the super soft," he added. "Monaco was good, I did what the team told me, and I did enjoy it.

"But in Germany it was difficult. I had a problem with the first set (in qualifying), then with the second set I had a bit of traffic. I made a small mistake and that cost me."

The 18-year-old came in for some heavy criticism from championship frontrunner Luca Filippi after the pair clashed in Saturday's race, but Buemi was pleased that he bounced back to set fastest lap in Sunday's race.

"I tried a bit too hard and braked late and touched Filippi," he said. "Second race, I had to start from P26, so one of the options was to come back in (for a pitstop) with three laps to go and try to set the fastest lap.

"I did that, that is a good point for the championship, and that is good for the future."

Buemi has tested for the Red Bull F1 team this week, but he will switch his focus back to Formula Three this weekend, where he will be racing at Zandvoort.
