Buemi hoped for more in Monaco
Sebastien Buemi has admitted that he was hoping for more than a seventh place finish on his GP2 debut at Monaco
The Swiss driver was the second man to stand in for the injured Michael Ammermuller, after Mikhail Aleshin drove the second ART car in Spain.
Buemi was on the pace from the start of the weekend, but he was unable to capitalise on his fourth place starting position as he struggled to get used to the clutch on his car.
"The beginning of the weekend went very well, but it's conclusion left me hungry for more," he said. "I really wanted to do much better than this seventh place."
The F3 Euro Series championship leader's difficulties with the clutch cost him at the start of the race and during his pitstop, and he admitted that he was not forceful enough when he was trying to get the car away.
"I had a little problem with the clutch, I was too nice with it," he said. "My errors cost us time, in particular during the pitstop.
"Without them we would not have lost places at the start as well, so it is a little frustrating compared to how things went at the start of the weekend."
ART team boss Frederic Vasseur was pleased with Buemi's performance on his debut, although he was frustrated that the team had not made the most of their strong performances in practice on Friday, where Buemi and Lucas di Grassi had topped the timesheets.
"Sebastien went exceptionally well in his first race in GP2," he said. "He worked well and asserted a challenge that can be very difficult to do in Monaco.
"But we cannot be satisfied with fifth and seventh places at the chequered flag when we were fastest in free practice. It is very regrettable that there was this shift in performance."
