Wickens to replace Ammermuller
Champ Car Atlantic racer Robert Wickens is to replace Michael Ammermuller at Carlin Motorsport in the next World Series by Renault races at Estoril
The Red Bull-backed Canadian finished third in the Atlantic standings in his rookie season this year, and has spent this weekend as Team Canada's rookie driver at the Brno A1GP event.
"Judging from his recent performances, I think he will be a great addition to the team," said team boss Trevor Carlin. "We will do our utmost to give him the best possible car to make his transition to World Series as easy as possible.
"We will be aiming for podium finishes in Estoril. Magny-Cours was our worst weekend of the season so far and we will be looking to get back on form and reclaim our lead in the team championship this weekend."
Wickens will line up alongside Carlin's regular driver Mikhail Aleshin.
Ammermuller had moved across to the World Series after losing his ART GP2 drive. He was drafted in at Carlin when former series leader Sebastian Vettel was promoted to Toro Rosso's Formula One squad.
But Ammermuller was unable to repeat Vettel's race-winning form and took a best result of fifth during his six appearances for Carlin.
