Nurburgring F3: Williams F1's Lance Stroll wins again in race two

Lance Stroll took his second win of the afternoon on Saturday as he won the second Formula 3 race at the Nurburgring, with Prema team mate Maximilian Gunther in tow

The Williams development driver continued Prema's dominance at the circuit where it won all three races in 2015 - with Felix Rosenqvist also sealing the title at that event.

Unlike in race one, Stroll was not able to break away from the pack, instead falling behind team mate Gunther at the start.

Two separate incidents on the opening lap eliminated three cars from the race, and a four lap safety car period was required.

The first involved Callum Ilott and Nick Cassidy, with the latter pushing the former wide at Turn 4. Cassidy spun across the track, and though he did not collide with anyone, he pulled off and retired.

The more dramatic of the two incidents occurred at the chicane, where Ben Barnicoat appeared to move across on Force India F1 test driver Nikita Mazepin, causing the former's car to jump slightly.

With no control, Barnicoat was powerless to avoid hitting the back of Harrison Newey's car, but he was able to continue. However, post-race he was given a five-place grid penalty for causing the clash.

After the debris was cleared, Stroll patiently stalked his team mate until lap 17, where he passed the German on the run up to the chicane.

From there, Stroll was able to eke out a bit of a margin, crossing the line 3.727 seconds ahead of his team-mate, with Joel Eriksson completing the podium.

Behind the top three finishers was the third and final Prema car to finish of Ralf Aron.

Next was Anthoine Hubert for Van Amersfoort, and then David Beckmann, Callum Ilott, Sergio Sette Camara, Pedro Piquet, and Niko Kari rounded out the top 10.
