Mortara wins again at Brands Hatch

Signature's Edoardo Mortara recorded his sixth victory - and fifth Saturday race win on the trot - in today's 13th round of the Formula 3 Euro Series at Brands Hatch

Mortara rocketed off the line from third on the grid, and dived between polesitting team-mate Laurens Vanthoor and the third Signature car of Marco Wittman into Paddock.

Vanthoor clung to the inside line, but was forced to lift-off to avoid a collision, which allowed Mortara to complete his move around the outside of him to lead.

From that point on, Mortara was never challenged. He led by over five seconds in the middle stages before backing off to win by 3.7s.

Vanthoor held off the challenge of ART's Valtteri Bottas, who had also made a fantastic start to run third from fifth on the grid, for lap after lap. But just over half distance, Bottas outbraked himself at Graham Hill Bend and allowed Wittman to nip past him, to ensure a Signature Dallara-VW 1-2-3.

Bottas held on to fourth, ahead of team-mate Alexander Simms, who passed Prema's Daniel Juncadella on lap 25. Behind Juncadella, Carlos Munoz (Mucke) and Antonio Felix da Costa (Motopark) rounded out the point scorers.
