Hulkenberg targets title with ASM
Nico Hulkenberg believes that he can fight for the F3 Euro Series title with reigning champions ASM this season
The 19-year-old was a race winner in the German F3 Cup last season, but he has made his name in recent months by taking Germany to the top of the A1GP standings.
Hulkenberg had other options for 2007, but he believes that signing for the team that has won the past three Euro Series titles was a safe choice.
"I tested for the team back in December and it went very well," Hulkenberg told Autosport magazine. "ASM is a very competitive team and there is no risk."
While the German believes that he can fight for the title in his debut season, he is also expecting plenty of competition in the series, in particular from his three teammates.
"For sure I want to fight for the title," he said, "but I have three very strong teammates and the Euro Series is a very competitive championship."
ASM has won the title for the past three seasons with Jamie Green, Lewis Hamilton, and Paul di Resta. This year, Hulkenberg will line up alongside Kamui Kobayashi, Romain Grosjean and Tom Dillman.
Hulkenberg's career is looked after by Michael Schumacher's manager Willi Weber, who is also involved in the German A1GP team.
