Conway wins Snetterton race one

Mike Conway strolled to his fourth British Formula Three win of the season in trademark start-to-finish style at Snetterton today

The Double R Racing driver made a good start from pole and was never threatened. James Jakes (Hitech Racing) scored his best result after taking Christian Bakkerud (Carlin Motorsport) for second on the opening lap and holding the place to the finish.

But the main talking point after the race was an enormous accident for Conway's championship rival and team-mate Bruno Senna.

The Brazilian touched wheels with Hitech's Salvador Duran at full speed on the back straight and was launched into the air. He ended up far down the run-off area at the Esses and was lucky to walk away unharmed. The car is too badly wrecked for him to take any further part in today's proceedings.

Senna's early accident brought out the only safety car of the race, after which things got far worse for Carlin. A coming-together just after the restart between Bakkerud and team-mate Maro Engel gifted third place to Hitech's James Walker, who followed Jakes home for the team's best result of the year.
