Conway wins at last

Mike Conway finally got a clean run in Donington Park's second British Formula Three race today (Sunday). The pole man got a good start and led all the way in a wet race, while his Double R teammate and series leader Bruno Senna could only manage fourth

Pre-season title favourite Conway got away ahead of James Walker (Hitech Racing), Christian Bakkerud, Oliver Jarvis and Maro Engel (all Carlin Motorsport). The flying Jarvis then took second from his teammate at the chicane.

But Walker, Jarvis and Bakkerud then all disappeared in the space of a single lap, leaving Conway with a large lead over Engel, Yelmer Buurman (Fortec Motorsport) and Senna. A mid-race safety car period did little to affect Conway's composure, though Senna continued to threaten Buurman until the line.

Aftwerwards, Conway said: "It's a shame we picked up debris in first race but fantastic to finally get the first win in and hopefully it's the first of many.

"I knew I just had to keep it together and nobody would be able to get close enough to pass me. It was still tricky towards the end though, as the track dried out."
