Conway signs for Double R

British F3 race winner Mike Conway has signed for Double R racing for his second year in the category

Conway has left Fortec Motorsport to join up with the Kimi Raikkonen-backed team and will join Bruno Senna and Stephen Jelley in a three-car assault on the series. The team will use Mercedes engines.

Conway was the most consistent scorer in this year's championship, finishing in the top ten in 19 of the 22 rounds, and winning the first race at Croft in May.

Team manager Anthony Hieatt said that the Raikkonen-Robertson team owners had been keen to sign Conway since the end of last year.

Hieatt said: "We're absolutely thrilled to have Mike driving with us next year.  He is a fantastic driver; Kimi and the Robertsons have been chasing him for a long time.  It is great to have him sign with the team for next season."

Conway was bullish about his chances of capturing the title with the team.

"I have a lot of respect for Anthony Hieatt - he has a great deal of experience in Formula 3. Our aim is to go out next year and win the Championship - I'm looking forward to being powered by Mercedes-Benz engines."

Conway will test the team's car at Valencia before the pre-season testing ban comes into force in January.
