Jarvis confirmed at Carlin

McLaren Autosport BRDC award winner Oliver Jarvis has signed with reigning champions Carlin Motorsport for this year's British F3 championship

The deal was announced on the main stage at the Autosport International Show this morning.

Jarvis was considering a step up to the World Series by Renault but has opted for a switch with the Mugen-Honda powered squad after testing with the team at Pembrey last month.

The Formula Renault UK champion explained that the deal only came together after he won the prestigious award.

"We've been talking for a while," Jarvis said, "but it all started after the award. Trevor [Carlin, team boss] got to see how I performed in the World Series by Renault car and things have happened quite quickly.

"We were speaking with World Series teams, I don't think it would have been a step too far, but had very limited testing. British F3 is the more respected category and has had most of the F1 grid through it.

"We now have to work hard until the first race of the season."

Team boss Carlin reckons that his new recruit can be a race winner in his first season.

"I don't see why not," Carlin said. "He is a great talent and will fits in well with the team and we really believe in him."
