Conway dominates race one
Britain's Mike Conway extended his British Formula Three Championship lead with a commanding victory in the wet first race at Silverstone today
Despite a poor start, Conway's awesome opening lap saw him sweep past both both Oliver Jarvis (Carlin Motorsport) and his Double R team-mate Bruno Senna by the time the field returned to the Abbey chicane.
He immediately pulled out a lead that peaked at five seconds before a late safety car cut it to almost nothing. But a good restart ensured he stayed in front until the end.
Senna had a mostly lonely race in second, but the fight for third was intense. First Jarvis came under pressure from Stephen Jelley, with Jelley going past on lap six. But then Jelley made a mistake and gave the spot back again, soon coming off second-best in a battle with Yelmer Buurman (Fortec Motorsport) as well.
Buurman then pounced on Jarvis at the restart, leaving Jarvis to fend off James Walker (Hitech Racing) as the pair took the flag.
