Blomqvist to drive for Fortec F3 team in Macau Grand Prix

Tom Blomqvist will drive for Fortec Motorsport in November's Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix, as the team expands to five cars for the first time

Blomqvist, 19, last drove for Fortec in 2010 when he won the Formula Renault UK title with the Richard Dutton-owned team.

The Briton is excited to be reuniting with his former squad, having driven for Italian team EuroInternational in the European championship this year.

"I am thrilled to be returning to the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix. To have been signed with Fortec Motorsport is a great opportunity," Blomqvist said.

"They are a very successful team and had great results there last year. I want to thank Richard Dutton and my manager Mark Blundell for getting me this ride and we will be aiming for success."

BULLER RETURNS FOR FOURTH MACAU GP

Blomqvist will join Fortec's European F3 regulars Pipo Derani, who was sixth in Macau last year, and Felix Serralles, while British F3 title challenger Will Buller has also come to an agreement with the team for what will be his fourth Macau GP and his fifth visit to the track (he won the Formula BMW race in 2009).

The team could not confirm at this stage who its fifth driver will be.

Fortec team manager Andi Scott, who engineers Buller, said: "Will has matured a lot and become a much better driver, and he's definitely a realistic contender.

"That's why we wanted him in our five-car line-up for Macau. I wanted to put together the strongest team possible, and with Will, Felix, Pipo and Tom we've got that."

The team is collecting a brand-new Dallara F313 chassis this week for its expansion.

AUTOSPORT understands that, despite losing Blomqvist, EuroInternational will be represented in the Macau GP.
