Harvey targets British F3 title in second season with Carlin

Jack Harvey has set his sights on winning the 2012 British F3 title after confirming he will stay with title-winning squad Carlin for a second season in the championship

The 18-year-old Briton, who is backed by the Racing Steps Foundation, scored one victory - in a reverse-grid race at the Nurburgring - and four podiums in his maiden season last year, on his way to finishing ninth in the championship.

With that experience behind him, and on the back of an extensive winter testing programme, Harvey said his goal is to win the title in 2012.

"I'm really looking forward to staying with Carlin for my second year in British Formula Three," the 2010 Formula BMW Europe runner-up said.

"My goal for the season is to win the 2012 championship; I have a great team around me at Carlin who I believe can help me to achieve this ambition."

Team boss Trevor Carlin added: "We're delighted to have Jack back on board with us for a second season.

"Having made the big step up from Formula BMW, Jack really developed as a driver last year and by the middle point of the season had become a consistent front runner - the highlight of his season being a much deserved victory at the Nurburgring.

"With the experience of a year in F3, we expect Jack to be a championship challenger from the outset."

Harvey is Carlin's second announcement for the forthcoming season, following the confirmation in November that Carlos Sainz Jr will also drive for the squad.
