Wirdheim Pleased Despite Slowest Time

Swede Bjorn Wirdheim was delighted with his first run in a Jordan at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday despite finishing bottom of the pile in the Friday test session.

Swede Bjorn Wirdheim was delighted with his first run in a Jordan at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday despite finishing bottom of the pile in the Friday test session.

Wirdheim, who won the Formula 3000 championship this year, missed out on the chance to drive for Jordan in the testing session before the Italian Grand Prix when Hungarian Zsolt Baumgartner bought the seat he had been promised.

Jordan gave him his Formula One debut in a testing session at the Monza circuit. Weirdheim said he was delighted to work with Jordan's director of race and test engineering Gary Anderson.

"I was just doing a bit of the work on race strategy," said Wirdheim. "It was just really nice to be able to work with Gary Anderson and I really hope I helped them with the work so they are better prepared for this weekend."

Wirdheim's early times were representative of his heavy fuel load and he failed to move off the bottom of the timesheets despite a lower fuel run at the end of the test.
