Wilson Makes Low-Key Jaguar Debut

Briton Justin Wilson made a low-key debut for Jaguar on Monday when he took to the track in his new R4 machine on Silverstone's South circuit near his home in Northamptonshire.

Wilson, who joined Jaguar from Minardi in a surprising move last week after ousting Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia, will make his debut for the team at the German Grand Prix this weekend.

With a testing ban currently in place, Wilson was only able to drive 50 kilometres around the circuit but the outing was crucial to ensure that the 6"3 Englishman could fit in the Jaguar cockpit.

"My first day with Jaguar on the track went according to plan," said Wilson. "The team did a lot of work over the weekend making adjustments to the cockpit area and in the end it paid off.

"I fitted in well and the car felt very good to drive. It was only a handful of laps but enough to whet my appetite as we go into the German Grand Prix this weekend. I cannot wait."

Wilson will have two hours of testing and one hour of official practice to get used to his new car at Hockenheim before taking part in his first qualifying session for Jaguar on Friday.
