Williams Wrap Up Barcelona Test
The Williams team wrapped up their preparations for the Bahrain Grand Prix after testing alone at the Barcelona circuit
Nick Heidfeld and Antonio Pizzonia shared testing duties, both concentrating on the set-up of the FW27, with the Brazilian finishing on top of the times with a time of 1:16.051.
Pizzonia was lucky to escape unhurt following an accident at turn nine, and the team said that, contrary to initial reports, the FW27 also came away with only minor damage.
"Today we concluded a two day test in Barcelona with Nick and Antonio in two FW27s," said technical director Sam Michael. "It was a productive test, during which we covered a total of 1,750 kilometers. Nick worked through tyre tests for Michelin, electrical system improvements, power steering modifications and a couple of aero tests in readiness for Bahrain.
"Meanwhile, Antonio worked on mechanical set-up items, cooling tests and some fuel system modifications. The race team now look forward to the Bahrain Grand Prix, while the test team will return to the Barcelona circuit in two weeks time."
