Williams Reiterates Ralf Commitment

Team principal Frank Williams has insisted there are no doubts Ralf Schumacher will race in the two remaining races of the 2004 season.

Team principal Frank Williams has insisted there are no doubts Ralf Schumacher will race in the two remaining races of the 2004 season.

Schumacher, who was back in racing action at last Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix after three months sidelined by an injury, reportedly angered his team bosses when he decided not to continue in the Shanghai race following a collision with McLaren's David Coulthard, despite his Williams car not being damaged.

As reported by Atlas F1 on Monday, and despite rumours claiming the German could be replaced for next week's Japanese Grand Prix, Schumacher will race in the final two races of the season.

"Let there be no misunderstanding about the team's commitment to Ralf," Frank Williams said in a statement today. "He will be racing for the team in Japan and Brazil. Since his recuperation, his work in the car - both testing and racing - has been characteristically quick and consistent, and his contribution to the championship outcome will be vital."

Schumacher will leave the Williams team at the end of the season to drive for Toyota.
