Webber wants podium finishes in 2007

Mark Webber will be disappointed if Red Bull Racing do not score podium finishes this year

The Australian is keen to show what he is capable of after several frustrating years with Jaguar and Williams, and has high hopes for the year ahead.

Speaking to the Australian Associated Press, Webber said that he wanted to finally produce the results that he believes he is capable of.

"I think I proved myself last year...and I've proved myself each year but I haven't had the results to show it, that's why I'm still in F1,'' Webber said.

"I'm looking forward to getting the results that we all want this year and the excuses aren't good for anyone.

"Yes, I want to have a really, really good year this year for myself and for Red Bull - they've obviously put a lot of faith in me, they know what I can do and I want to go out there and do it.

"Yes, it will be disappointing if we're not on podiums, that's pretty clear.

"I need to work with the team, go out there and get myself in the drivers' championship. It's as simple as that and hopefully that will be this year.''

Talking about the season ahead, Webber believes that Formula One could be heading for a vintage season because of the rule changes and numerous driver moves.

"It's going to be the most competitive year in Formula One we've seen for a long, long time just because of the time situation and 19,000 (rev limit) on the engines," he explained.

"It's going to be extremely competitive, in a good way because I think that it will be very, very tight around podiums and around the top sort of results.

"There might be a team, whether it's Ferrari or McLaren or Renault, there might be one particular team which (dominates) but I hope it doesn't happen.''
